{"id":35347,"date":"2024-05-21T16:56:56","date_gmt":"2024-05-21T21:56:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/?p=35347"},"modified":"2025-01-31T12:40:03","modified_gmt":"2025-01-31T17:40:03","slug":"promote-the-development-of-public-investment-projects-with-a-focus-on-dry-forests","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/en\/promueven-el-desarrollo-de-proyectos-de-inversion-publica-con-enfoque-en-el-bosque-seco\/","title":{"rendered":"Promote the development of public investment projects with a focus on dry forests"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On May 14 and 15, in the city of Tumbes, the Regional Government of Tumbes and the \u201cBosque Seco\u201d project, executed by the Ministry of Environment, held a meeting with the purpose of providing technical assistance for the development of public investment projects focused on the protection and recovery of the biological diversity of the dry forest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This meeting was part of a series of four meetings also held in the regions of Piura, La Libertad and Lambayeque, in close coordination with the Regional Governments, in order to highlight the importance of directing public investments towards the recovery of dry forest ecosystems. For this reason, it was important to have the participation of public officials responsible for Formulation Units, Multiannual Investment Programming Offices and Natural Resources and Environment Managers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The space made it possible to recognize the limited public investment in dry forest ecosystem restoration projects for the provision of ecosystem services. It was noted that on the north coast only five public investment projects have been promoted with a focus on ecosystem recovery, of which only one was focused on the dry forest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThese meetings allow us to highlight the importance of an ecosystem that is unique in the country and where public investment will ensure its recovery. The dry forest in Piura, Tumbes, Lambayeque and La Libertad provides ecosystem services to 114 rural communities and providing advice to public investment projects allows us to improve the quality of life of populations based on their needs and with the responsible use of the sector's financial resources.\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> said Sergio Lazo, technical coordinator of the Bosque Seco project.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-35352\" src=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/05\/Imagen-de-WhatsApp-2024-05-17-a-las-16.01.07_6547a46f.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1280\" height=\"852\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><b>About the Bosque Seco project<\/b><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dry forest ecosystems are crucial for climate change adaptation and mitigation, as they harbor great biological diversity and provide essential ecosystem services for local communities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The \u201cDry Forest of the Northern Coast of Peru\u201d project is an initiative financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and executed by the Ministry of the Environment.
