{"id":34621,"date":"2024-04-16T09:00:38","date_gmt":"2024-04-16T14:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/?p=34621"},"modified":"2025-01-31T12:55:21","modified_gmt":"2025-01-31T17:55:21","slug":"7-organizaciones-recibiran-financiamiento-de-conserva-aves-en-peru","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/en\/7-organizaciones-recibiran-financiamiento-de-conserva-aves-en-peru\/","title":{"rendered":"Seven organizations will receive funding from Conserva Aves in Peru"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In its first call for proposals, the Conserva Aves en Per\u00fa initiative announced the seven selected organizations that submitted proposals featuring innovative approaches to bird conservation, ranging from the creation of subnational protected areas to the implementation of nature-based solutions and community participation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The selected projects aim to protect endangered species and their habitats, and to work closely with local communities, authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure the long-term sustainability of these ecosystems.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The organizations selected to implement the Conserva Aves Initiative in Peru are:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><b> <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.redama.org\/\" target=\"_self\"><b>Amazonas Voluntary Conservation Network (RED AMA<\/b><\/a><b>): <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">is the largest Amazonas Volunteer Conservation Network in Peru, comprising 16 individual and community-based volunteer conservation initiatives (ACP) in the Amazonas region that promote and coordinate activities which, carried out jointly as a large team, aim to continuously improve their environmental management.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\" class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Selected project: \u00ab<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/RED-AMA1.pdf\" target=\"\u201c_self\u201d\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Creation and expansion of private conservation areas within the areas that make up the AMA Network in the tropical Andes of northern Peru<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\" <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Funding: $149,483.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Location: Amazonas<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Expected acreage: 6,000.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The AMA Network seeks to support the expansion of the Bosque de Palmeras-Molinopampa Protected Area (ACP) and the Bosque Berl\u00edn Protected Area (ACP), as well as the reaccreditation and expansion of the Milpuj Protected Area (ACP), all of which are part of the AMA Network. These three Protected Areas are located in the Amazonas Department, which forms part of the Tropical Andes in northern Peru. This project aims to conserve approximately 6,000 hectares and minimize the impacts of deforestation and environmental and climate risks by working with nearby residents, local communities, authorities, and other stakeholders.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"2\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><b> <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/yunkawasiperu.org\/\" target=\"_self\"><b>YUNKAWASI<\/b><\/a><b>: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">is an organization founded in 2007 that works with Amazonian and Andean communities to raise awareness of their natural resources and provide them with technical support on how to use and conserve them.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\" class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Selected project: \u00ab<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Yunkawasi.pdf\" target=\"\u201c_self\u201d\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Participatory Conservation of the Tropical Andes in the Department of Jun\u00edn \u2013 Peru<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\"<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Funding: $150,000<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Location: Jun\u00edn<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Expected area: 52,703.66 hectares.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The goal is to establish a Regional Conservation Area (RCA) in the Pucut\u00e1 Mountain Range (Jun\u00edn), covering 52,703.66 hectares. The goal is to protect ecosystems and environmental services, as well as to preserve the diverse endemic bird species for the benefit of local communities.<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Conserva Aves will fund actions complementary to Rainforest Trust\u2019s funding, ensuring a strategic partnership for conservation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"3\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><b> <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/consorciomanglares.pe\/services\/\" target=\"_self\"><b>Northwest Peru Mangrove Consortium (CONMANOPE)<\/b><\/a><b>: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">is a social organization established in 2015, composed of six local associations of workers specializing in the management and harvesting of hydrobiological resources. For more than three decades, they have been committed to the preservation of the mangrove ecosystem and the sustainable use of its main resources, as well as to the management of the Los Manglares de Tumbes National Sanctuary.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\" class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Selected project: \u00ab<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Manglares-de-Tumbes.pdf\" target=\"\u201c_self\u201d\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Creation of the Los Tumpis Mangroves Regional Conservation Area (ACR)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\"<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Funding: $150,000<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Location: Tumbes.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Expected acreage: 5,000.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CONMANOPE will help restore the mangrove ecosystem in Tumbes by establishing a Regional Conservation Area, which will strengthen integrated management aimed at consolidating the mangrove ecosystem as an Integrated Management Unit within the Tumbes Coastal Marine Zoning Plan. This project is expected to protect and conserve 5,000 hectares.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"4\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><b> <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/asociacionandinus.org\/\" target=\"_self\"><b>ANDINUS Association<\/b><\/a><b>: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">is a nonprofit association that seeks to promote activities aimed at generating knowledge, protecting the environment, conserving biological diversity, and ensuring the sustainable use of natural resources.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Proyecto seleccionado: \u00ab<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Andinus.pdf\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Creation of the Ca\u00f1a \u2013 Huata private conservation area<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00bb<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Financiamiento: $90,000.00<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Location: Jun\u00edn<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Expected acreage: 2,000.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Its goal is to conserve the biodiversity of native species in high-Andean ecosystems by establishing a private conservation area covering nearly 2,000 hectares. Through the Conserva Aves Initiative, endangered or vulnerable endemic and migratory bird species will be protected, such as the black-eyed shrike (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Atlapetes melanopsis<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">), the black-breasted tit (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Anairetes alpinus<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">), the spectacled warbler (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Asthenes palpebralis<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">), the Oxapampa tororo\u00ed (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Grallaria centralis<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">), or the Jun\u00edn Tororo\u00ed (<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Grallaria obscura<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">). <\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"5\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><b> <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/idmaperu.org\/\" target=\"_self\"><b>Institute for Development and the Environment (IDMA)<\/b><\/a><b>:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is a non-governmental, non-profit organization founded on March 13, 1984, with the aim of contributing to national development at the local and regional levels; toward the achievement of a sustainable development model that improves and enhances human living conditions and quality of life, the democratization of society, and social and gender equity from an environmental perspective.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\" class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Selected project: \u00ab<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/IDMA.pdf\" target=\"\u201c_self\u201d\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Ecosystem Protection for the Survival of Threatened Wild Birds in the Headwaters of the Mari\u00f1o Micro-Basin: Proposal for the Creation of the Rontoccocha ACR<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\"<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Funding: $100,000<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Location: Apur\u00edmac<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Expected acreage: 22,000.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IDMA aims to protect ecosystems to ensure the survival of endangered bird species in the Mari\u00f1o micro-watershed by proposing the creation of the Rontoccocha Regional Conservation Area, which will cover 22,000 hectares, with the goal of reducing human-induced pressure and protecting biodiversity habitats.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ol start=\"6\">\n<li class=\"translation-block\"><b> <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.huarangonature.org\/\" target=\"_self\"><b>Huarango Nature (HN<\/b><\/a><b>): <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It is a Peruvian non-profit organization founded in 2017 as a continuation of several conservation projects initiated in Peru since 2001, focused on the conservation, propagation, and restoration of native species along the Peruvian coast and in the Andes.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\" class=\"translation-block\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Selected project: \u00ab<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Huarango-NAture.pdf\" target=\"\u201c_self\u201d\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Community-based biodiversity conservation: protecting threatened species in a dry forest corridor in northern Peru<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.\"<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Funding: $129,420<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Location: Lambayeque<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Expected acreage: 4,000.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Huarango Nature focuses on conserving patches of dry mountain forest as habitat for threatened bird species and ensuring their long-term survival.
