The annual festival <\/span>Prepared by the Ministry of the Environment \u2013 Minam<\/span>, It took place in the Campo de Marte, Jes\u00fas Mar\u00eda district, and around 20 institutions participated, both private and public, who showcased experiences and ventures associated with the sustainable use and conservation of our biodiversity.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The event's inauguration was attended by Giuliana Becerra, Vice Minister of Environmental Management of the Ministry of the Environment; Elia Urmeneta Venturo, Manager of Economic Development of the Municipality of Lima; Marco Antonio Lezma Jara, Deputy Manager of Environmental Management of the Municipality of Jes\u00fas Mar\u00eda; Luis Espinel Cuba, Executive Director of Conservation International; and Jene Thomas, Director of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Peru.<\/span><\/p>\n

Anton Willems, CEO of Profonanpe, highlighted: <\/span>\u00ab"For Profonanpe, which has been working on conservation issues for 30 years, Conservation Day is just a summary of all the richness of our country. We have been working together with all our partners, on the coast, in the highlands, and in the rainforest. Peru has everything: its people and its natural heritage, and it is in this harmonious coexistence that we can achieve sustainable development."\u00bb<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Among the various booths were initiatives such as Kusikuy, a digital platform that distributes Agrobio products, developed by Andean communities in Cusco, Huancavelica, Puno, and Apur\u00edmac. Also participating was APROBIOSPECC, a women-led enterprise producing natural biofertilizers from marine waste; as well as various entrepreneurs and conservationists from the coast, highlands, and rainforest who presented products made from native species; and small sustainable businesses licensed by Sernanp's Allies for Conservation program.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The space also allowed visitors to enjoy environmental education activities, which have raised awareness and knowledge about the importance of protecting our natural environment.<\/span><\/p>\n

    About the GEF Agrobiodiversity GIAHS project<\/b><\/h3>\n

    \u00a0The GEF Agrobiodiversity SIPAM project seeks to conserve agrobiodiversity in the localities of Acora (Puno), Huayana (Apurimac), Lares (Cusco), Laria (Huancavelica) and Atiquipa (Arequipa), through traditional farming systems, integrated management of forests, water and land resources; and the maintenance of ecosystem services.<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    This initiative is financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), executed by the Ministry of Environment and the Ministry of Agrarian Development and Irrigation, with the implementation of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the administration of Profonanpe.<\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
