{"id":25576,"date":"2022-11-02T17:14:03","date_gmt":"2022-11-02T22:14:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/?p=25576"},"modified":"2022-11-02T17:14:03","modified_gmt":"2022-11-02T22:14:03","slug":"estudiantes-awajun-de-la-region-amazonas-son-aliads-en-la-valoracion-de-conocimientos-tradicionales-asociados-a-la-biodiversidad","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/en\/estudiantes-awajun-de-la-region-amazonas-son-aliads-en-la-valoracion-de-conocimientos-tradicionales-asociados-a-la-biodiversidad\/","title":{"rendered":"Awaj\u00fan students from the Amazonas region are allies in valuing traditional knowledge associated with biodiversity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the aim of raising awareness among children from native Awaj\u00fan communities in the province of Condorcanqui, Amazonas region, the workshops \u201cThe ABC of ABS\u201d were developed, promoted by the Ministry of the Environment and Profonanpe, which seek to involve the youngest in the appreciation of traditional knowledge for the conservation of biodiversity.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The workshops were held in three bilingual intercultural educational institutions in the Amazonas region, where significant experiences were developed that seek to build learning from prior knowledge, associated with the genetic resources of the flora and fauna of their environment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_25578\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-25578\" style=\"width: 1408px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-25578 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Fot1.jpg\" alt=\"A trav\u00e9s del taller \u201cEl ABC del ABS\u201d los ni\u00f1os y ni\u00f1as Awaj\u00fan revaloran los conocimientos tradicionales de sus comunidades, relacionados a la conservaci\u00f3n de la biodiversidad.\" width=\"1408\" height=\"1056\" srcset=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Fot1.jpg 1408w, https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Fot1-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Fot1-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Fot1-768x576.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1408px) 100vw, 1408px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-25578\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Through the workshop \u201cThe ABCs of ABS\u201d Awaj\u00fan children revalue the traditional knowledge of their communities, related to the conservation of biodiversity.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One hundred and fifty-six children from three Awaj\u00fan native communities\u2014Pakui, Shushug, and Huaracayo\u2014participated in the awareness workshop, titled \u201cThe ABCs of ABS.\u201d The workshop aims to help children construct their own learning based on their prior knowledge of biodiversity-related topics, using an intercultural, gender-sensitive, and intergenerational approach.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Likewise, as part of the activities to value traditional knowledge in the communities visited, and in joint work with the National Institute for the Defense of Competition and the Protection of Intellectual Property (Indecopi), the process of registering collective knowledge of these native communities was initiated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The workshop also had the support of the NGO Yunkawasi, an organization that works for the conservation of biodiversity in the Cordillera de Col\u00e1n.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_25579\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-25579\" style=\"width: 1408px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-25579 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/11\/Fotos8.jpg\" alt=\"El taller es una experiencia educativa que se compone de actividades l\u00fadicas para lograr el involucramiento de los ni\u00f1os y ni\u00f1as. It also takes into account the prior knowledge they possess within their respective communities.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>The ABCs of ABS<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is a non-formal educational experience, within the framework of the intercultural training program promoted by the GEF-ABS-Nagoya Project, which aims to encourage the appreciation of traditional knowledge associated with genetic resources for a future fair and equitable sharing of the benefits derived from their use (ABS: Access and benefit-sharing) through educational play activities.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>About the GEF-ABS-Nagoya Project<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This project, funded by the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thegef.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Global Environment Facility (GEF)<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and implemented by the Ministry of the Environment, Profonanpe and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unep.org\/es\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">UN Environment<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, It aims to strengthen national capacities for the effective implementation of access regimes to genetic resources and traditional knowledge in accordance with the Nagoya Protocol and thus contribute to the conservation of
