{"id":25467,"date":"2022-10-18T14:35:44","date_gmt":"2022-10-18T19:35:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/?p=25467"},"modified":"2022-10-18T15:14:19","modified_gmt":"2022-10-18T20:14:19","slug":"profonanpe-adquiere-nuevo-financiamiento-del-green-climate-fund-para-conservar-los-bosques-peruanos-e-impulsar-su-aprovechamiento-sostenible-a-traves-de-la-inversion-en-bionegocios","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/en\/profonanpe-adquiere-nuevo-financiamiento-del-green-climate-fund-para-conservar-los-bosques-peruanos-e-impulsar-su-aprovechamiento-sostenible-a-traves-de-la-inversion-en-bionegocios\/","title":{"rendered":"Profonanpe secures new financing from the Green Climate Fund to conserve Peruvian forests and promote their sustainable use through investment in bio-businesses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The board of directors of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenclimate.fund\/\">Green Climate Fund (GCF)<\/a> approved the financing proposal from Profonanpe, Peru&#039;s environmental fund, which will strengthen technical and institutional capacities to design, implement and monitor, through the incubation and acceleration of eco and biobusinesses in the Peruvian Amazon, specifically in Amazonas, San Mart\u00edn, Cusco, Puno, Loreto and Madre de Dios.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Amazon Eco Bio Business Facility (EBBF) will deliver effective climate change mitigation results by investing in eco-bio businesses (EBBs) that sustainably manage and conserve our Peruvian forests. The EBBF will be established as a fund capitalized with resources from the GCF and Profonanpe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The EBBF will be implemented within Peru&#039;s national REDD+ framework and will expand the Forest Cover Monitoring Module to include secondary data on forest degradation. It will also support the development of the Forest Reference Emissions Level (FREL).<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> o <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FREL\/FRL (English acronym) for REDD+ activities related to the conservation and sustainable management of forests. Furthermore, it will strengthen technical and institutional capacities to ensure the environmental and social integrity and sustainability of bio-businesses under the REDD+ Safeguards.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>This project hopes to boost 55 bio-businesses in the regions where the project will be implemented.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cFor Peru, achieving EBBF approval, among so many globally accredited organizations, represents a great opportunity to promote and develop initiatives linked to sustainable forest management, enabling collaboration between different sectors and strengthening the capacity of communities to reduce their vulnerability and increase their resilience to the effects of climate change.\u201d<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Claudia Godfrey, Director of Innovation and Strategic Management at Profonanpe, highlighted this.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After receiving approval for its first project globally from this Fund in 2015, Profonanpe has once again secured this type of financing, highlighting its high technical and fiduciary standards for attracting and channeling funds to support Peru&#039;s environmental agenda.
