The equipment was distributed by SERNANP (National Service of Natural Protected Areas), USAID Pro-Bosques, and Profonanpe, Peru&#039;s private environmental fund, who collaborated in this area of Requena province to promote the sustainable use of natural resources.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The handover ceremony took place in the beneficiary communities: Nueva Esperanza, Frontera, Espa\u00f1a, Lobo Santarosino, and Nuevo Capanahua. They were also provided with business management knowledge related to this emblematic Amazonian fruit, including how to estimate market prices, recoup their investment, and generate profits while considering all the costs involved in aguaje production.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Luis Olivero Pe\u00f1a, leader of the Lobo Santarosino community, this will motivate people in his community to make better use of the aguaje fruit, not only for consumption but also for sale. \u201cThese tools will help us take better care of the resource and generate more income for our community,\u201d he says.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-24797 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/PSD-03-1024x681.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"532\" srcset=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/PSD-03-1024x681.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/PSD-03-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/PSD-03-768x511.jpg 768w, https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/PSD-03-1536x1022.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/PSD-03.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>Men and women participated in the practical workshop on climbing aguaje.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the talks, the community members made projections to market between 50 and 100 sacks of aguaje daily, considering that they can reach, mainly, markets such as the cities of Requena and Iquitos, the largest consumers of this fruit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It should be noted that, since 2019, USAID Pro-Bosques has been providing technical assistance to Indigenous communities to achieve sustainable resource use.
