Piura, July 3, 2022.<\/b> Last Saturday, July 2nd, the documentary premiered on the beach in the district of Los \u00d3rganos, Talara. <\/span>\u00ab<\/span>Resilient Fishing<\/span>\u00bb<\/span>, This film portrays the urgent needs and expectations of fishing communities and the close connection between their way of life and the sea and its resources. Ubaldo Tume Periche and Mar\u00eda Marcelo Gonzales are the central figures in this project, which depicts the daily lives of the men and women of the sea, affected by climate change and other problems impacting marine life.<\/span><\/p>\n

The documentary chronicles the battle against climate change being waged in the fishing communities of our country, and was produced by Profonanpe, Peru's largest private environmental fund. This audiovisual initiative narrates the silent struggle being waged by the fishing communities of M\u00e1ncora and Huacho against climate change.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

More than 100 people attended the screening on Los \u00d3rganos beach, which included the participation of fishermen benefiting from the project "Adaptation to the Impacts of the Marine Coastal Ecosystem of Peru and its Fisheries (AMC)," promoted by the environmental fund in the area. The documentary highlights the testimonies of the protagonists\u2014artisanal fishermen and women entrepreneurs in the sector\u2014and portrays the urgent needs and expectations of the communities and the close connection between their way of life and the sea and its aquatic resources.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00abWe are aware of the challenges facing artisanal fishing. That is why we are working as allies of the public sector in the challenge of adapting to climate change. We are very pleased with the openness and positive reception the project has received from both the fishing communities of M\u00e1ncora and Huacho, where we will continue to focus our efforts,\u201d said Anton Willems, CEO of Profonanpe.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00ab<\/span>Resilient Fishing<\/span>\u00bb<\/span> This is an example of the work being carried out by the AMC project, funded by the Adaptation Fund and promoted by the Ministry of Production, IMARPE, the national program \u201cA Comer Pescado\u201d (Let's Eat Fish), and Profonanpe. This initiative promotes adaptation measures to reduce the vulnerability of fishing communities in M\u00e1ncora and Huacho to climate change through four key areas:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
