In addition, nearly 60,000 people from 294 indigenous and rural communities benefited from the conservation efforts.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-21950\" src=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/COLOMBIA-CEPF-INICIA-NUEVA-FASE-300x160.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"953\" height=\"508\" srcset=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/COLOMBIA-CEPF-INICIA-NUEVA-FASE-300x160.jpg 300w, https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/COLOMBIA-CEPF-INICIA-NUEVA-FASE.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 953px) 100vw, 953px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Foto: Jeisson Zamudio<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">Going forward, the new CEPF funding will focus on the conservation of 28 KBAs across five conservation corridors in <strong>Bolivia<\/strong>, <strong>Colombia <\/strong>, and <strong>Peru<\/strong>. The funding will focus on the five key priorities of the <strong>CEPF <\/strong>strategy for the hotspot:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Improve the protection and management of 28 prioritized Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs) to promote species conservation, participatory governance, green recovery from COVID-19, climate change resilience, and financial sustainability.<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with key stakeholders in the public and private sectors to promote biodiversity conservation, a green recovery from COVID-19, and environmental, financial, and social sustainability, for the benefit of priority KBAs.<\/li>\n<li>To protect globally threatened priority species.<\/li>\n<li>Foster a well-trained, well-coordinated, and resilient civil society at the local, corridor, and hotspot levels to achieve CEPF\u2019s conservation outcomes.<\/li>\n<li>Provide strategic leadership and effective coordination of CEPF investments through a Regional Implementation Team (RIT).<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">To support grantmaking and capacity building for grantees, the <strong>CEPF <\/strong>has signed an agreement with a three-member alliance comprising two environmental funds and a conservation organization that will work together as the RIT of the <strong>Tropical Andes<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"translation-block\">The RIT includes the Bolivian Association for Research and Conservation of Andean-Amazonian Ecosystems in Bolivia (<strong>ACEAA<\/strong>), the Fund for the Promotion of Protected Natural Areas in Peru (<strong>Profonanpe<\/strong>) in Peru, and the Natural Heritage Fund of Colombia (<strong>Patrimonio Natural<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-21951\" src=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/PERU-CEPF-INICIA-NUEVA-FASE-300x160.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"928\" height=\"495\" srcset=\"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/PERU-CEPF-INICIA-NUEVA-FASE-300x160.jpg 300w, https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/PERU-CEPF-INICIA-NUEVA-FASE.jpg 750w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 928px) 100vw, 928px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Foto: Pablo J.
