{"id":19142,"date":"2021-09-17T21:54:53","date_gmt":"2021-09-18T02:54:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/?p=19142"},"modified":"2022-03-10T16:58:31","modified_gmt":"2022-03-10T21:58:31","slug":"remediacion-es-un-tema-urgente","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/en\/remediacion-es-un-tema-urgente\/","title":{"rendered":"Remediation: \u201cIt\u2019s an urgent issue\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>September, 2021. \u2013<\/strong> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the occasion of his se<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2nd anniversary, the <a href=\"https:\/\/hubinnovacionminera.pe\"><strong>Hub <\/strong><\/a><\/span><b>of Mining Innovation of Peru<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, held a special edition of the #Caf\u00e9Hub Environmental Session, a virtual event that brought together experts in environment and sustainability, in which the importance of maintaining an ecosystem approach and collaboration to face environmental challenges was highlighted.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Doris Hiam-Galvez participated in the meeting, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Director of Metals for Hatch;<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Pablo Vega, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Director CIEC-Peru (Innovation and Circular Economy Center)<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">; Pamela Antonioli, general manager of the Mining Innovation Hub of Peru; Fabiola Mu\u00f1oz, former Minister of the Environment; and Flor Blanco, manager of the Environmental Liabilities Program of Profonanpe.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"css-9pa8cd\" draggable=\"true\" src=\"https:\/\/pbs.twimg.com\/media\/E_cr1FVWYAQP-hS?format=jpg&amp;name=medium\" alt=\"Imagen\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Specifically, Blanco, representative of Profonanpe, highlighted the work being done in the remediation of sites impacted by hydrocarbon activities in Loreto, in partnership with the<\/span> <b>Hub<\/b> <b>of Mining Innovation of Peru.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cIt\u2019s an urgent issue. The impacts on people\u2019s health, the environment, and life itself are evident to all of us. That\u2019s why it\u2019s so urgent,\u201d he noted. \u201cThe debt is enormous. That\u2019s why the challenge we face as a country compels us to look at this collaborative approach,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe have to ensure that the techniques used worldwide are appropriate in Peru. But not only technically, but also socially and culturally, which constantly challenge us,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s not about remedying or continuing to remedy. It\u2019s about prevention,\u201d he concluded.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Call for proposals for the development of remediation plans<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Currently, it is being carried out<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the process of calling for independent and qualified consultants, alone or in consortium<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the development of rehabilitation plans for 12 sites contaminated by hydrocarbons.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This application process concludes on September 27 and consists of two stages: prequalification and selection.
