{"id":17950,"date":"2021-06-18T20:03:44","date_gmt":"2021-06-19T01:03:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/?p=17950"},"modified":"2022-03-10T16:55:19","modified_gmt":"2022-03-10T21:55:19","slug":"por-naturaleza-profonanpe-presenta-informe-que-busca-definir-los-nuevos-desafios-de-la-agenda-ambiental-de-los-proximos-anos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/profonanpe.org.pe\/en\/por-naturaleza-profonanpe-presenta-informe-que-busca-definir-los-nuevos-desafios-de-la-agenda-ambiental-de-los-proximos-anos\/","title":{"rendered":"By Nature: Profonanpe presents a report that seeks to define the new challenges of the environmental agenda for the coming years"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In order to strengthen the national environmental management system and support the implementation of a policy that enables the country&#039;s sustainable development, Profonanpe, the Environmental Fund of Peru, presented the results of the discussions of the <em>Themed tables: \u201cBy Nature\u201d<\/em>, During a virtual event held last Thursday, the webinar featured the participation of Gabriel Quijandr\u00eda, Minister of the Environment; Anton Willems, CEO of Profonanpe; and experts on topics related to Biodiversity, Climate Change, Water, Remediation, the Green Climate Fund, the Joint Declaration of Intent, Pacaya Samiria, and Marine Coastal Zones.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The document will be delivered to the newly elected government for the 2021-2026 term and will help define the areas of work on which the organization will focus in the coming years. With this report, Profonanpe reaffirms its commitment as a partner in building and implementing an environmental agenda that responds to the needs and demands of our current situation and that brings together the public, private, and civil society sectors in its development.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn recent years, we have witnessed a growing interest in and commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), whose implementation not only makes us aware of the importance of intersectoral collaboration for growth, but also calls us to act promptly and engage in the challenge of nature conservation. This change depends not only on Profonanpe, as the Environmental Fund of Peru, but also on the commitment and constant work of the various environmental entities, and above all, on other productive sectors, the public sector, and civil society,\u201d said Anton Willems, CEO of Profonanpe, during the event.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For his part, the Minister of Environment highlighted Profonanpe&#039;s role as a dedicated ally in the environmental agenda and the importance of efforts to develop spaces that bring together diverse members of the public and private sectors, with the aim of gathering opinions on critical points regarding different issues related to the country&#039;s environmental agenda.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cConcern about environmental issues must be viewed within the broader context of development, that of generating opportunities and exploring how to restore the productive capacity of lands degraded by neglect or poor practices. In this sense, expanding Profonanpe&#039;s mandate allows the entity&#039;s capabilities to be adapted to the multidimensional reality, understanding that protected areas must be viewed from a territorial perspective integrated with what happens outside them,\u201d emphasized Gabriel Quijandr\u00eda, Peru&#039;s Minister of the Environment.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Among the panelists participating in the latest edition of <em>Themed tables: \u201cBy Nature\u201d<\/em> Among those present were Carlos Adrianz\u00e9n, Environmental Affairs Manager at Celepsa; Pedro Gamboa, head of SERNANP; Luc\u00eda Ruiz, member of the Board of Directors of Sunass; Clara Indacochea, geological engineer and independent consultant; and other experts. Mar\u00eda DiGiano, director of the Andes-Amazon Initiative at the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation, also participated, congratulating the participants on the document&#039;s development and the forum it provided for advancing the environmental agenda for a sustainable Peru.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe often measure our achievements in environmental conservation through numbers such as hectares of forest conserved, trees planted, and carbon reduced; however, behind all of this are people like you.
