Profonanpe and the Sustainability Center of the University of Lima work together to strengthen sustainable entrepreneurship skills in PNA

A total of 27 entrepreneurs will benefit from the Emprendedores Por Naturaleza (Entrepreneurs by Nature) Second Edition contest, which will strengthen their projects through training in marketing, communications and administration.

Lima, October 4, 2022.- With the aim of strengthening the capacities of sustainable business projects in Protected Natural Areas (PNAs), Profonanpe, the Peruvian private environmental fund, and the Sustainability Center of the University of Lima are launching the first training program that will benefit the winners of the second edition of the “Entrepreneurs by Nature” contest.

This program, which has a methodological design proposed by the Sustainability Center of the University of Lima, seeks to strengthen capacities in marketing, digital communication, administration and accounting, taught by professors and students of the institution. “Having the support of students in the sessions will be very enriching for the entrepreneurs and themselves, since in the development of each session they will be able to learn about the work done by the business projects and support them in strengthening their capacities, while the entrepreneurs will have student advisors for the development of the activities. It is a winning formula that benefits everyone,” explains Vanessa García, Head of Social Responsibility at the Sustainability Center of the University of Lima.

Twenty-seven sustainable projects that develop activities in different PNAs in the country will benefit. In 2021, these business projects received recognition from Sernanp and Profonanpe through the “Entrepreneurs by Nature” contest, for working with a private business model that promotes the sustainable development of their communities and ecosystems.

“Profonanpe is an ally of initiatives that manage environmentally sustainable solutions. Through the alliance with the University of Lima, we continue to promote capacity building of the Entrepreneurs by Nature, and this will also have a positive impact on the conservation of our Protected Natural Areas,” emphasized Anton Willems, CEO of Profonanpe.

The first module of the program begins on October 13, through the virtual platform of University of Lima. At the end of the training stage, the business projects will receive a letter accrediting their participation, an input that strengthens the management of each project.

The alliance between the two institutions is part of the Innova project, a Profonanpe initiative that designs innovative financing mechanisms that contribute to the effective management of PNAs, together with companies and citizens.
